Portrait of Emma Porter

Born in Rockford, Emma enjoys her time living in Madison, where she can remain close to her family across the Wisconsin-Illinois border. Emma attended Bryn Mawr College outside of Philadelphia as the first in her family to attend and graduate from college. As a lifelong learner, she continued her studies at Eastern University to earn her Masters in Multicultural Education. Emma’s career path has been curated by her exploration of what it takes to make high-quality education accessible for all. Prior to joining the Mercile J Lee Scholars team, Emma served four years as a K-12 educator in Philadelphia and Madison.

On the weekends, you can find Emma curled up on a cozy chair, covered up by her current knitting project and her two cats, Pancake and Waffles. Her Disney+ subscription keeps her caught up on the latest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A lover of music, Emma has attended her fair share of concerts, including her favorites, Kacey Musgraves, Orville Peck, and Carly Rae Jepsen.
